Opportunity is more than chance.
We don’t trudge along, and out of nowhere, we are inundated with job offers, marriage proposals, and “lucky” breaks.
People who get the breaks are people who are already out there searching for opportunities, who are looking for ways to improve their situation.
Proverbs 19:15 says we play a part in how much luck comes our way:
“Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.”
Certainly, life can dig a hole that’s so deep we can hardly envision climbing out, but we can climb out. Hard work is our key. Getting busy. Looking for every opportunity and taking hold of them when they come our way.
Let’s be the ant and not the grasshopper. Let’s constantly work to improve our situation, and then when our lucky break comes along, we can be confident we’ve earned our accolades.
Opportunity falls into the lap of the one who’s worked hardest to prepare for it.
