So, you feel forgotten.
Grandma didn’t remember your birthday. Uncle Tom didn’t show up for your graduation. Your own children didn’t send you a card for Mother’s Day.
Even the cashier at the grocery store called you by the wrong name.
You feel lost, inconsequential, of no importance.
If you never stepped outside of your house, no one would notice, because they don’t care about you.
Not even God—
Whoa, there, buttercup. Let’s shake off that feeling with Psalm 147:4:
“He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.”
Here’s our takeaway from this verse:
There are so many galaxies that we can’t count them all, and each one has billions of stars. And God numbers each one.
Then he goes one step further, and he gives each one of them a name.
Zachary. Mary. Brandon. Bethie. Lewis. Richie, Zoey, Samantha, Isabel, and on and on.
And you think God doesn’t know who you are? He holds you in the palm of his hand. You are his treasure. Not one of those stars is more important than you.
You are not lost among the stars. You are first among the stars.
Debbie. Floyd. Asher. Mohammad. Tyler. Cynthia. Sherrell.
Insert your name into this list. God already has. He loves, knows, and remembers you.
Take comfort in God. He’s your number one fan and cheering for your success in everything you do.
