Not all love is the same.
One is not better than the other, they are just different.
- We love our kids and want to protect them.
- Our love for our pets creates a warm feeling in our lives.
- When we love our job, it no longer feels like work.
- Spousal love, the real kind, makes even their foibles adorable.
What type of love does God feel toward us?
There are 3 Layers of God’s Love that he bestows on us. One is not better than the other. Understanding all three are vital to understanding our relationship with God.
Love Layer No. 1:
God loves us because we believe on Jesus.
John 16:27 says:
“For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”
Love Layer No. 2:
God loves us because he loves his Son.
John 17:26 says:
“I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
Love Layer No. 3:
God loves us to prove the divine nature of the Christ.
John 17:23 says:
“I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”
We can write these as three love nuggets to carry with us always.
God loves us because we believe on his Son, his divine emissary to all people.
We become wrapped in the love of God. Our choice to follow Jesus strengthens the cords that bind us to our Father in heaven.
Coming to Christ cocoons us in multiple layers of God’s eternal, unbounding love.
