Childhood is a time of looking forward.
We can ride our bike to the corner this year, then to the store the next. We look forward to our first car. Then comes dating, and the possibilities are endless.
Then we level up to college. Freedom! There’s no one looking over our shoulder. We can do what we want.
In our twenties, we reach our physical apex. Our bodies are taller, stronger, better looking than they will be ever again.
After we hit thirty, we must fight to retain what came so easily a decade before. The further we move along life’s timeline, the harder the challenge becomes.
What good is there in our future?
The Bible gives us 3 Gifts that Come with Age. We can achieve them no other way.
Proverbs 16:31 says our high standards and moral lifestyle are a prized achievement.
“Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.”
Job 11:17 assures us we will receive recognition for our good works.
“And your life will be brighter than the noonday; its darkness will be like the morning.”
Proverbs 3:1-2 tells us we will live in the golden glow of our achievements in the Lord.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”
Life doesn’t wind down at twenty or even thirty. Forty isn’t our peak decade nor is fifty.
God has our prize waiting. Our golden years will be the best of all. God’s reward will flow from heaven when we live by his Word.
Jesus is our future, and our happiness comes through him.
