4 Benefits from Walking with God

English Audio Version

We are on the lookout for things that benefit us.

Exercise … it renews our energy and burns up those cupcake calories.

A car with a high MPG … we can drive farther for less money, and we all love that.

Insulated windows … to keep our utilities low.

A home close to our job … who likes to commute? Not us.

So, what benefits do we get from dedicating our life to Christ?

Riches? Will God do that for us, plump our bank accounts and provide us with houses and cars?

How about relationships? A spouse and children, ones who love us and will cater to our every whim?

Fame … how can we not want that? Our name will be known across the world.

Isaiah 43:1-2 is specific about the 4 Benefits we receive from Walking with God.

“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.’ ”

Benefit No. 1 – God will be with us through the waters.

These are the daily stresses we endure. They surround us and are part of our lives. God is always with us.

Benefit No. 2 – The rivers will not overwhelm us.

Unexpected events can become a wave of distress. God will lift us up, and we will still be there when the wave passes us by.

Benefit No. 3 – The fire will not burn us.

Fire represents the dangers that will try to consume us. Failed relationships, illness, financial ruin. God is our protection.

Benefit No. 4 – The flames shall not consume us.

Our fourth benefit extends into the future. No thing that comes against us today, tomorrow, or at any time will prevail against the shielding grace of our Father in heaven.

We are God’s children. He created us and called us by name. His protection is ours.

Our trust in God is our stalwart staff. He is our strength in our walk with him.
