Bar Code Living

English Audio Version

A bar code is a fascinating tool found on modern products.

At first glance, it appears to be a series of straight lines, all tightly packed next to one another.

How can this series of lines carry any real and meaningful information?

Well, the bar code doesn’t really. It can’t reveal the price or tell us if the product is a good deal, or if the price has gone up or down from the week before.

It’s just a series of lines, a cipher, so to speak. Something so enigmatic and mysterious that it makes no sense to anyone.

Anyone, that is, except for a computer.

It’s in how a barcode works that we see how fascinating it is.

See, that little set of lines doesn’t have any information about our product, but it knows the connection to a more powerful source, the mainframe computers that carry all the information we can imagine about what we’re wanting to buy.

The bar code doesn’t need to have all the answers. It just needs to be aligned properly, and it can connect with the source of every answer possible.

That’s us and God. When we order our lives by God’s plan, we’ll connect with him every time.

1 Corinthians 14:40 is our directive to set up our lives by God’s standards.

“But all things should be done decently and in order.”

All things. Our finances. Our personal lives. Our work priorities. Everything.

That’s bar code living, lining up our lives so that the world can read God in everything we say and do.

When we live in God’s orderly plan, the truth of the Word will flow through us.

Where we are is not where we'll stay. God has greater works for us to do.
