Casting Off the Darkness

English Audio Version

Feeling oppressed? Can’t seem to get ahead?

THROW IT OFF!

The worst things that can happen to us are for the moment. The sun will rise tomorrow. God will still be there.

WE DON’T LIVE IN DARKNESS!

Nehemiah 8:10 gives us a punch of God’s power.

“Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Let’s repeat that last line again.

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

Yes, you read that right. God’s JOY is our STRENGTH!

How do we get God’s joy?

We find God’s joy in the good things of life. We eat the fat, drink sweet wine, and we send portions to anyone who has nothing ready.

That means we worship God in everything we do, because joy is the natural result of Christian faith.

Are your co-workers speaking words of condemnation? THROW IT OFF! Your walk with Jesus is filled with joy.

Do your bills cause you worry? THROW IT OFF! Christ has excess, and he will bless you with more than enough.

Are the doctor’s reports coming back negative? THROW IT OFF! Christ is your healer, for by his stripes you are healed.

As our verse tells us, this day is holy unto our Lord. GRIEF DOESN’T RULE OUR LIFE! We are powerful and filled with joy in Jesus!

Jesus casts off our cloak of darkness, for he imbues our days with light.
