Think of a fist.
One that’s Hulk big. You know, the Marvel character who becomes a giant, green brute. He transforms into someone so powerful that others quake in fear.
He gets his power on, and no one can stand in his way.
How great would that be if we could do the same thing as Christians? If we could simply change from our weak, non-spiritual selves into spiritual giants who could strike fear into every evil circumstance we face?
“Arrgh! I have the power!” Our fist smashes the bad things, all the barriers that surround us crumble into dust, and our enemies crumple to the ground, defeated with the power of the Almighty God.
Well, actually, that’s exactly what God offers us. He’s already given us his plan, one that allows us to wield our power against the world and the devil and come out the victor every time.
Acts 2:38 reveals our transformation process.
“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ ”
1. Repent – Choose to be someone better than you’ve been.
2. Be baptized – Cast off your human frailties with the help of Jesus.
3. Receive the Holy Spirit – Here’s where you get the Power! You will transform into a spiritual giant with a fist that can crush every evil thing!
Do you feel ineffectual, swamped by life, or like God’s power has bypassed you? You can be reinvigorated by the infilling of the Spirit. Ask him inside, and your life will never be the same.
Ask and receive. Expect more than you’ve had in the past. Salvation wipes away our wrongdoing, but true power flows from the Holy Spirit. Take charge of your spiritual future today.
We don’t walk alone. The Holy Spirit can be our constant companion.
