A gate is a mighty thing.
It can keep things in or keep things out.
If we have control of the gate, we have power over others. We can control access of people, goods, and ideas.
We are the border control, the immigration official, and the intimidating boundary no one can get past.
Matthew 16:19 reveals the power we hold as the keeper of the gate.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
As Christians, our gate is the boundary between the physical world and the spiritual one. We stand at the dividing line of earth and heaven. We are the ones that open the door and slam it shut. What we do on earth is reflected in heaven. We can’t expect to let things get wild and wooly here on the physical plane and not expect to reap our rewards on the spiritual one.
Now is the time to stand up for Jesus.
Now is our opportunity to live like him. Now is our chance to hold our morals high, guard the gate, and ensure that God’s standards are upheld before all people.
We hold the keys to the kingdom. We lock and unlock the gate with prayer, Bible study, and fasting. Jesus has placed his trust in us.
Our power flows from Christ, and we must extend his love to the world.
