Time for God’s Work

English Audio Version

Procrastinators have a point.

Yesterday is pretty much like today, which is little different from tomorrow.

Focus-minded people don’t see that at all. To them, yesterday is wasted if not full, today is our only chance to take care of business, and tomorrow will be a disaster if we’re not on the ball today.

There’s one thing that’s the same for both groups of people. At some point, there’s no more opportunity. What’s been done is complete, and what we haven’t gotten to won’t be finished.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 is clear about life’s timeline.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”

Some things can wait until tomorrow. The electric bill isn’t due, the car tags have just been paid, and the furnace is running fine. Maybe our pantry is stocked, and there’s no need for a grocery run today.

Other things must be tackled while we can. A card for our spouse. A hug for our kids. An appreciation gift for our pastor.

What we want to accomplish in life, we must be diligent at. Do something to forward that dream today. Make a phone call. Send a text. Sign up for a class. Volunteer. Say, “I love you.”

Do something, or we may miss our opportunity.

The call of God is for today, and we need to “get to it.”
