Let’s jump right into our verse in Jeremiah 30:10 in the NKJV.
“‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord, ‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet, and no one shall make him afraid.’”
This is a mouthful, and it’s better if we break it down.
Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob.
We are the beloved creation of the Master. We are his children, and he treasures us. Just as an earthly father protects his children at the risk of his own life, so our God watches out over us.
Nor be dismayed, O Israel.
Things will come against us. Storms will batter us. Family members will disappoint and finances will fail. God, however, stands strong, and in his hands, we can have the reassurance that we are never alone.
For behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity.
From afar means that distance means nothing to God. When we are most alone, he still watches over us. And our children and our children’s children will enjoy the comfort of his salvation and redemption. However far we run from God, he is there when we need him.
Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet.
There is no loss so great that God cannot redeem it. No person can run so far that God’s footsteps cannot lead them home. His rest and peace await us when we recognize his presence and accept his control over our lives.
No one shall make him afraid.
The enemy who comes against us is a fool. The great Creator has control over his creation. Why do we think that the one God created can overcome the protecting covering of God’s hand? Fear destroys your faith. Confidence in God will propel you to greater things.
God says you are his, not to be afraid, and that his salvation is on the way. Take hold of his promise, and you will find his peace and security every day, for no one can come against you when God holds his hand as a shield of protection over you.
