Crafted by God

In a museum, a marble-inlaid floor had a discussion with a marble statue standing proudly under a glass dome.

“What right do you have to stand in the sun? We are from the same quarry, and I am walked upon by dirty shoes every day.”

The statue replied, “I bear the marks of the sculptor’s tools. The hammer, the chisel, the chunks of my flesh that went flying. I am beautiful because of what I’ve endured.”

As people, even the most beautiful of us have storms we’ve weathered. Comments, setbacks, even illness that we’ve struggled to overcome.

It’s easy to see others’ lives as easier than ours when we don’t know all their story.

Isaiah 40:31 tells us:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Our hope for the future comes through our faith in Christ. Life will batter us. It will sometimes be painful. What we see as setbacks and failures is God using the circumstances of our lives to make us more beautiful than ever before.

Don’t be discouraged. Your time to hold your head high and bask in the sunshine of God’s affection is on its way.
