Bad things happen to people.
Likely, some of them have happened to you. Perhaps even things that flood you with shame when life jars your memory.
You think, “What if? What if someone finds out? What will they think? What will become of my life?”
The good things in life seem to fade into the background, and despair is all you can see on the horizon.
God says to look up! He is reaching out to you! There is no night so dark that God cannot reach you in your anguish and lift you into the light.
Psalm 34:4-5 says:
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
God can deliver you from your fear. Not just some of them, not just the ones from your childhood or your failed marriage or your years of addiction . . . God says he delivers you from ALL your fears.
Each and every one.
Yes, that shame you think is unforgivable, the one that haunts you in the night when the darkness creeps into your soul and threatens to steal your life away.
God says to seek him, and you will be delivered. You will shine with the radiant joy of a victorious child of the King.
Here’s how you make this passage in Psalms work for you.
1. Seek God. That means for you to read your Bible and spend time in prayer.
2. Expect God’s answer. Look for it, wait for it, and trust him to reply.
3. Refuse to let your fears rule your life. Kick them out the door. They are banished from your life through the power of Christ your King.
You will feel the difference. Others will see it in you. Your life will be changed, and you will begin to grow mightily in the strength and joy of the Lord.
Now is your time. Let Jesus lift you to a brighter future in him.
