Sunny skies make us feel good.
We talk about the storm clouds of life and the sorrow they bring.
The truth is, even the most successful people on earth have struggles they face. Emotional. Financial. Spiritual. There’s no life that travels a trouble-free road. Our claim must be that we’ve braved the battles, and they’ve not taken us down.
We can find our firm foundation for our spiritual strength in the Word of God.
Jude 1:9 reveals the power in the spoken name of our Lord:
“But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you.’ ”
Revelation 12:7-8 puts the devil in his rightful place:
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16 tells us we are on the winning side:
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”
A perfect life happens only in fairy tales. There, the sun shines every day, and no storm clouds come our way. Here in the real world, the floor gets gritty, the steaks burn, and people let their raw emotions bruise us. That’s life, even the bad parts. The exciting thing is our firm faith in Christ, for through him, we know the end of the story. Our Lord is victorious, and we will rise one day to be with him.
Our battle cry is sure, for Christ proclaims he brings us the victory.
