What’s deflated your balloon?
What’s got your coattails dragging in the mud, and you can’t seem to hitch them up?
What has you feeling like your life’s alarm is broken, and you’ll always be late for every good thing?
Some people have a valid reason for hanging their chin on their chest, for constantly having red eyes, and for holding out their hand hoping for a little help from a kind person.
- They were violated as a child.
- Poverty was their childhood companion.
- Divorce.
- Illness.
- Bankruptcy.
- A cruel boss who torments them endlessly.
Here’s the thing. Those circumstances don’t determine your outlook on life unless you let them. They only have the power over you that you choose to give them.
God offers you a way out.
Matthew 11:28 reveals God’s hand out and supporting you.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
- God can allow you to move past that violation. When it returns to torment you, your time in prayer and in reflection on the goodness of God will be your steady rock of assurance.
- Your childhood lack can become your motivation to vault yourself into your future success. God will guide you along the way.
- God has a better spouse waiting for you. There are good people out there. Find one who will read the Bible with you and hold your hands in prayer.
- Illness can’t be allowed to steal the joy of the Father. This is an opportunity to bond together in prayer with those of your church family.
- A fresh financial start can be a chance to rethink your priorities. Put God first and let material possessions take second place to the things of the spirit.
- Kindness is Christ’s way. A soft answer turns away wrath. Finding small ways to make your situation better is Jesus’ path to a successful business relationship.
Go ahead, air up that balloon. Send your coat to the cleaners. Reset life’s alarm, and you will get the good things you desire. God is your plan. His redemption is your goal. Living for Jesus is your way to move forward.
Focus on the future and Jesus will take you there.
