3 Honors Your Parents Deserve

English Audio Version

Old Hollywood was a glamorous place.

Rising stars were pampered and petted. Fancy clothes, flashy cars, and elegant houses flowed from the studios like an oasis in the desert.

The best of the crew received special recognition. They were honored in three special ways.

  • They received top billing on the theater’s marquee. Their name came first, and that was an honor.
  • They were honored with an Oscar. The first Academy Awards ceremony took place in May of 1929.
  • They earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the first (in 1960) honoring director Stanley Kramer.

How do you show your parents that they are the best out there?

How do you honor the people who gave you life?

The 1st Honor Your Parents Deserve:

Proverbs 23:15-16 says speaking with wisdom, thinking before you respond, offers your parents top billing on the list of people you respect.

“My son, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad. My inmost being will exult when your lips speak what is right.”

The 2nd Honor Your Parents Deserve:

Proverbs 23:22 tells you that spending time with your parents as they age is an honor greater than the Academy Awards.

“Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.”

The 3rd Honor Your Parents Deserve:

Proverbs 23:24-26 says to live by the laws of the Lord is to give your parents a Star on the Walk of Their Life.

“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice. My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.”

It’s all about the love. The world loved Old Hollywood, and they honored them in multiple ways.

1 Corinthians 13:13 reflects the foundation of the honor you should show your parents.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Give your parents a call. Take them out for lunch. Spend time with them. Make sure they know you care.

When you honor your parents, God will honor you.
