Our Most Valuable Crop

What are your most precious prayers?

What do you hold up before God over and overthe one prayer you would have him answer above all else?

Your child to return to God?

A job that would allow you to give your ten percent and have enough left to last until payday?

A car that works, or a home in your name?

James 5:7-8 tells us:

"Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near."

We have no control over the harvest in the field, other than we can prepare and tend it. How and when it ripens cannot be rushed. We’re at the mercy of the seed’s DNA and the lifecycle it provides.

What are the signs we can expect a good harvest in our life? The autumn and spring rains.

We can expect our harvest when:

Our son or daughter shows up at church for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

Our boss offers us overtime or advancement into a higher paying position.

We realize our regular payments have increased our credit score, and we can qualify for that loan.

Be patient, be patient. Whether in spiritual matters or those of daily live on this side of glory, God is coming to meet all our needs.

He is the autumn shower and the spring rain. He is the faithful one that we can depend on in every situation. He is our salvation and redeemer.

Amen.
