The Unbreakable Nature of God’s Love

Unbreakable!

What does that mean to you? What things in life do you think of as unbreakable? I want us to talk about physical things for a moment, things we can reach out and touch. They will give us a concrete, understandable Rosetta stone for everything else we look at in the Word.

So, what do you imagine as unbreakable in your home, your city, your place of employment? Another way to picture this is what is the most durable sub-stance you can use in an application if money is no issue?

Stainless steel? We use it for sinks, industrial kitchens, and anywhere that rust cannot be allowed.

Stone? In the Northeast, it’s often used for curbing or door stoops. We face our houses with it and top our kitchen cabinets with it. It’s difficult to damage or stain.

Laminated glass? It is close to unbreakable, the reason we find it in car windshields, high-rise win-dows, and even in use as structural walls or flooring.

What do these concepts reveal? Things that are considered unbreakable are best used in stressful situations to withstand the worst that life can throw at us.

Stainless steel, stone, and laminated glass all serve different purposes; but we place our trust in them because they are the best items we have for the applications for which we use them.

The same is true of God’s Love.

Psalm 136:1 tells us:

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”

When we are broken, lost, or in need of protection, we can depend on him.
