4 Times We Are Nestled in the Arms of the Lord

Fears.

What are the ones that torment you, that pop up when you least expect, and nag you even when you want to push them away?

Is it that knock on the door late at night? Or a person that walks out of a store behind us?

Maybe it’s the car that turns on its blinker only after we turn on ours … three turns in a row ...

Our children deal with the same thing, if not the same fears. You argue with your spouse, and your child wonders if Daddy will come back home. The dog is sick … the bully at the park … a failing grade.

Here are 4 times we (and our children) are nestled in the arms of the Lord:

Time No. 1: “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” – Psalms 4:8

God’s hand covers our children. They are protected from the sounds in the night and the bully that chases them, for they are safe in the embrace of Jesus.

Time No. 2: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4

What can man do to us? The threat of death holds no power to frighten a child of the King, even when life batters us.

Time No. 3: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

We are never without God at our side. His presence is always with us. We can call on him, and he is with us.

Time No. 4: “Do not be afraid of sudden terror, or of trouble from the wicked when it comes;  for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” – Proverbs 3:25-26

That car behind us? The bully in the park? Even a failing grade …. No matter how small our fears seem to others, God cares about us and will keep us from stumbling in our fear.

We can’t stop the sounds in the night or prevent our dog from getting ill. We can turn it over to God. He cares about us as his children, and he protects us in the night.

Place your trust in God. He is with you wherever you go.
