Our MULTITASKING God

Multitasking. It’s the skill of being able to do many things at once.

We’re on the phone while we sort out our desk while we schedule next week’s meeting.

Or we put on our makeup while corralling our children while making sure breakfast is on the table.

We’re proud when we can multitask, because we’re proving we are good at everything … all at the same time.

Except that multitasking isn’t a thing. Seriously. A weekly TV show that tried to bust common “myths” tested the idea of multitasking. It didn’t pan out. To drive a car, be on the phone, and make sudden decisions on unexpected road hazards … all while trying to sort out a new radio station? It can’t be done.

See, what we do is make microshifts from one skill to another. Our brain pauses our focus on driving … or on our radio station … or on whatever else we’re trying to do when something new comes along. Multitasking is simply shifting very quickly from skill to skill. It’s why most states in the U.S.A. have banned hand-held phones while a car is in motion.

Yet, we have a God that is far above us. He can do what we cannot manage. He is our example for the extraordinary, our MULTITASKING God.

M – He MAKES his name known to all people.

Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29 tell us: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.”

U – He is known UNTO all the earth.

1 Kings 6:80 says: “That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is none else.”

L – He is LORD above all lords.

Mark 12:29 says: “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, Oh Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”

T – The devils TREMBLE at his name.

James 2:19 tells us: “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

I – He is greater than every IDOL.

1 Corinthians 8:4 says: “As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.”

T – He is master of all THINGS.

1 Corinthians 8:6 tells us: “But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him: and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

A – He is ALWAYS and forevermore the one God.

Mark 12:32 explains: “And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God: and there is none other but he.”

S – He was SENT by the Father to bring us salvation.

John 17:3 assures us: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

K – He is KING of both the mountain and the valley.

1 Kings 20:28 says: “And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.”

I – He is the GREAT I AM.

Isaiah 42:8 gives us the words of the Lord: “I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

N – He is NOT an option but our only choice.

Galatians 3:20 in the Good News Translation makes it clear that God’s right to rule is indefensible: “But a go-between is not needed when only one person is involved; and God is one.”

G – He is the GOOD mediator between God and men.

1 Timothy 2:5 tells us: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

God has no problem multitasking. He can be there for you, her, me, him, even Grandma and Grandpa all at the same time. He is the Great I Am, the Good Mediator, and the Master of all things. He was sent by the Father to offer us salvation, and now is our time to turn to him.

Place your faith in Jesus. He can change your life today.
