Death and taxes. Isn’t that what they say we can never avoid?
What?!? Love, love, love ... what about love? Can’t we have that, too?
The Word says death and taxes don’t play into the structure of our promised future in any measure, but love? We’ll get to that.
Genesis 8:22 says:
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
Let’s start off with the first six words in this verse.
As long as the earth endures.
How long is that? Like, since last summer, and maybe for another few summers in the future?
Hardly!
Scientists say it’s been 4.5 billion years since God created Earth. Well, they don’t say the “God created” part, but that’s what they mean.
Scientists also say the earth will be here for another 8 billion years and will be able to support life for 1.5 billion of those years.
So … with a little addition, we learn to read between God’s words, and we discover that the first six words in this verse mean at least 7 billion years, according to scientists.
That’s a long time for seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night.
So, if you’re worried about the economy, the housing market, and Russia’s invasion of her neighbors, just know this: not everything is going off the rails.
God assures us it is so … for at least another 1.5 billion years.
Man might go crazy, but God never does. He loves us. Let’s put our faith in him.
