Seeing Jesus Face to Face

English Audio Version

Faith. A mysterious thing.

Christianity is a faith-based religion. That means we base our beliefs on something that can never, by definition, be proven.

The textbook definition of faith says we cannot verify it or slot it into neatly classified pigeonholes, because then, our beliefs would become little more than a loose collection of historical facts.

That’s why unbelievers find it so easy to give reasons why the Bible cannot be true. It’s because they have no faith.

They choose not to believe the lessons given to us by the Word.

For Christians, those who believe despite the world’s doubts, where will our faith one day take us?

John 16:22 says:

“So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”

There will come a day . . . an hour . . . a moment when our faith will change, and that’s not a bad or a negative thing. It’s like a caterpillar. It’s a good thing, but it’s not what it will eventually become. The caterpillar has no clue how magnificent its future will become.

Then, it emerges from its cocoon – what looked like death – and it becomes the amazing and beautiful butterfly!

That’s our faith! We’re in caterpillar stage. We will die but for a time, because we are being transformed. Then – and that will be a glorious day, we become a butterfly in the presence of Jesus.

Then, as John 16:22 so beautifully says, “No one will take your joy from you.”

Shout and hallelujah! Our faith has become reality! Let’s jump up and down for joy! (Or flutter our beautiful butterfly wings!)

When we keep our eyes on God, he will justify our faith in him, and one day we will see Jesus face-to-face.
