What unusual path has God set you on?
Where are you heading that you thought you’d never go?
It doesn’t have to be the mission field … or selling all your worldly goods to give to the poor … or giving your extra bedroom to a homeless person for the Christmas season.
It can be as simple as inviting Cousin Shawn back after he mocked your Christian beliefs during last year’s Christmas Eve supper.
Or offering a plate of cookies to your neighbor who growls at your kids when their ball rolls into his yard.
Or gifting your pastor with a bonus check for Christmas when your accounts are already nearing empty.
When God directs us down an unknown path, we must live in faith, not fear.
Let’s look at Luke 1:35:
“And the angel answered her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.’ ”
An angel? Talk about fear! Mary must have been shaking in her socks!
And a BABY? What was that about? She wasn’t even married!
Suddenly Uncle Shawn doesn’t seem so bad. That plate of cookies … easy-squeezy. We might even add a few dollars to that Christmas check for our pastor.
Any path we can’t see to the end of can seem scary.
Our solution? Trust in God.
Live in faith, not fear. Know that God will not leave you. He will be by your side all the while.
Look how Mary’s story turned out. Jesus was born, and he became the Savior of the world.
Anchor your trust in God. He won’t lead you astray.
