3 Rocks in Our Spiritual Foundation

English Audio Version

Some parts of a foundation are more important than others.

A keystone is the centerpiece of an arch. Remove it, and the rest is weakened. It will continue to stand for a while, but cracks will appear, and one day, it will come tumbling down.

A cornerstone determines the accurate placement (and durability) of the entire foundation.

A couple in England bought a century-old house to renovate. The walls were cob-built, a functional material of mud and straw that can last centuries.

Here’s the key to making cob-build houses last: the cob must be elevated on a stone base, or water will soften the cob material, and the walls will weaken and crumble.

When the English couple began renovations and opened their walls, their cob rested directly on the ground. The cob had to be completely replaced, crippling their renovation budget.

A rock foundation is vital to a building’s staying power, and that’s true of our faith in Christ, as well.

Here are 3 Rocks in Our Spiritual Foundation to keep it strong.

Rock No. 1:

Proverbs 28:5 says the understanding of life comes through our relationship with God.

“Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely.”

Rock No. 2:

1 John 5:20 tells us we connect with God when we find salvation in Jesus, his Son.

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”

Rock No. 3:

2 Corinthians 4:6 reveals Jesus as the source of spiritual revelation and the knowledge and understanding of the Father.

“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

We must underpin our faith with the foundation of the Word. Here are our 3 foundational rocks to keep us strong:

  • Life is found in God.
  • Salvation comes through Jesus.
  • The majesty of God is revealed through the Son.

Let’s upgrade our spiritual foundations. We build with Christ, the cornerstone of our faith in God.
