Undercover agents – spies, as we like to call them – have a special status while they are in the field.
They place themselves in the middle of danger, even if no one can see it.
They lead normal lives (or so it seems) as teachers, construction workers, or government officials.
Yet, they are just an Internet firewall away from exposure and confiscation of their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
In 2011, the terrorist organization Hezbollah identified and captured two American spies. The damage began to spread as the CIA scrambled to protect the identities of even more undercover agents.
In 2009, seven CIA employees were killed and six others wounded in Afghanistan.
In 2007, the US, Britain, and Israel began losing contact with their spies in Iran.
The spies needed a safe house, a place to hunker down for safety until the storm clouds of exposure and capture passed them by.
As Christians, there are times we need to hunker down against the world’s assaults.
Ezekiel 34:28 says we will dwell in the Lord, and WE WILL BE SAFE.
“They shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the land devour them. They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.”
Proverbs 1:33 says God puts his protection around us, and NO EVIL CAN TOUCH US.
“Whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
Psalm 4:8 says we can rest in safety, and OUR SLEEP WILL BE UNDISTURBED.
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Jesus is our spiritual safe house. He is our haven of protection. In him, we need not fear anything life throws our way.
Jesus is our rock of redemption, for his arms protect us from harm.
