What’s got you down?
Your kids? Are they acting out again?
Or is it your job? Your boss has cut your hours, and you don’t know how you’ll make it up?
Or maybe your car … or your washing machine needs repair … how are you going to afford that?
God, aren’t you listening? Your children need help down here.
God smiles in his gracious goodness, and he puts his arm around us and whispers to us, “Don’t worry on these things. I know about every situation you are facing.”
Matthew 6:31-32 says:
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”
This passage covers three promises from God.
“What shall we eat?”
God owns the wheat and the corn and every good provision. He will not skimp on you.
“What shall we drink?”
Every river and water source are God’s. He offers you the living water.
“What shall we wear?”
Every plant and animal that produces clothing is God’s gift to us. He desires that no one goes without.
These are things we all deal with. Maintaining the things that keep us functioning. Putting food on the table. Keeping our kids clothed. We can’t ignore them. God is telling us that these are not to consume our thoughts.
They will work themselves out. They will. Just give God a chance. He knows our needs and will meet every one.
God wants our trust, for he desires to take care of us.
