From My Hand to Yours

English Audio Version

Barter is a good way to live.

I make this, you use it, and in exchange, you offer me something of equal value.

What happens when an item or service is especially valued?

We get more in exchange for what we’ve produced.

Luke 6:38 gives us God’s barter exchange.

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Did you get that? It doesn’t matter what you have to offer. Teaching skills? An ability to comfort others? A generous bank account?

When you offer it to God, he sees your heart of compassion, and his generosity is opened toward you.

You receive the favor of the heavenly Father. You receive blessings you won’t be able to contain.

They will come to you in good measure. If you’ve given a handful, you’ll receive two in return.

They will be pressed down. Every available opportunity will open to you.

They will be shaken together. You will receive blessing after blessing after blessing.

They will be running over. You won’t have room to store all the good things God will do for you.

Are you excited yet? Do you see what God’s trying to get across? The final part of this verse says it clearly.

“For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

If you give lots of love, you will be showered with friends. Donate to good causes, and people’s lives will be improved. Let God into your pocketbook, and there’s no telling what he will do for you.

What we offer unto God, he returns to us generously, far and above what we gave him.
