So, what nametag do we wear?
What’s emblazoned on our lapel?
Do we take pride in our label as something we’ve earned?
Grandparent. That’s a good one. Not everyone gets to wear that name.
Expert. How many years does it take to get tagged with this? It’s all about experience and the time we’ve invested to achieve it.
CEO. Chairman of Executive Operations. The one who runs the show. We’ve proved ourselves more capable than anyone else in our class.
Christian.
Oh, my. Dare we go there?
Some people think this is an easy name to wear. “I believe! Woo-woo! I’m there!”
Yes, that’s a good start, but there’s much more. We must become an expert in Christian living and prove ourselves capable of adhering to biblical standards.
Not everyone gets to wear the name of Christian.
God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14:
“Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”
God called himself the I AM. He needed no explanation. His power was without equal. He always has been, is, and always will be.
God lived up to his title in every part of his being.
We need to say WE ARE. We need to wear the attributes of Christianity that exemplify Christ.
- We are PATIENT.
- We are KIND.
- We are HUMBLE.
- We are TRUTHFUL.
- We are TRUSTING.
- We are FORGIVING.
- We are HOPEFUL.
- We are STEADY IN OUR FAITH IN JESUS.
That’s our title of authority. That’s our Christian label on our lapel. That’s the truth of who we need to be.
We prove our faith in Christ by how we live every day.
