Off-roaders like a challenge.
The rougher the road, the better their day becomes.
Yet, what sportsman, no matter how intrepid, doesn’t need a rest at the end of the day?
In a travel documentary hosted by a Hollywood great, two men rode their motorcycles around the world. They started off excited, but exhaustion became the name of the game. Parts broke, the weather was harsh, and in places, there were no roads. They finished their journey, but the fun was fading at the end.
They needed some recuperation time.
Ecclesiastes 4:6 gives us a word of wisdom.
“Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.”
They allowed they finished their expedition because they kept their goal in front of them. They had something to accomplish, and their determination was greater than their troubles.
They also took breaks, visited with locals, and toured some of the sights along the way.
When we have a plan, and we stay zeroed in on our destination, we can defeat even our challenging days. They will become no more than a blip on our radar.
When we make time for a quiet moment amid the noise, we’ll be renewed in our Lord, and our faith in him will carry us forward.
Schedule in time for reflection, a moment of prayer, and a scripture or two. Get a good devotional and give it a read. Think about what it has to say and apply it to your day.
You’ll be refreshed when you do. Your outlook will improve, and the ending will be better than the beginning.
Our faith in Christ is renewed when we make time for him.
