Jump on a zip line. Do it. Just hook up, leap from the platform, and fling yourself into the air to glide over the forest canopy.
Better, ride that zip line on a cruise ship, where there’s water for miles, and to zip overboard will leave you stranded as the ship passes you by.
Not wild enough? How about a bungee jump off a massive bridge? Leap without looking and hope you come back up.
What makes it possible for people to do these daring activities? How can they risk their lives to such dangerous stunts?
People do die on zip lines, and bungee jumping, too.
And on airplanes, in cars, in boats, and flipping the light switch in their homes.
We must trust in something, even though we understand that life isn’t a hundred percent guarantee.
Jeremiah 17:7 tells us our trust in God is never misplaced.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.”
See, here’s the thing. A Christian doesn’t get a perfect life. There’s no guarantee that accepting Christ as Savior will create a succession of happy days like pearls on a string.
Life is still a risk every day. Things happen. The hurricane blows in, the stock market slips, the roof leaks . . . things happen.
That zip line might break, but we trust it because of the precautions and safety measures put in place. We trust it because we choose to trust it. Our fear is worth the excitement of safely reaching the other side.
Our walk with Christ is the same. Our joy in our Lord makes the journey worth the while.
Take a chance with Jesus. You’ll be glad you did.
