Automobile insurance cards have a vital purpose.
They are visual proof that guarantees we’ve purchased protection for our automobile in case of accident or injury.
We can receive a ticket for not showing our insurance card, even if we’ve purchased insurance. The officer needs proof. It’s the only thing that will get us off the hook.
Our health insurance card serves the same purpose. We show it at the doctor’s office, and we are admitted with no delay. Just try to get in without it. We’ll be asked to cover the entire cost up front. That insurance card becomes very important.
What’s our proof of our salvation? What do we hold up to verify the truths revealed in the life and crucifixion of Jesus?
The Bible says our faith is all we need. Read Jesus’ words in John 20:29.
“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’ ”
During the life of Jesus, our Lord was their proof. He was with them, performing his miracles and ministering to their needs. He was their insurance card.
Then Jesus was gone. All they had was their faith in what he’d taught and their belief in his divinity. Their proof of who Jesus was didn’t come from what they held in their hands but in what they believed in their hearts. That was all the proof they needed.
Our connection with Christ is through our faith. We find him when we choose to believe on him.
