Through the Storm

English Audio Version

People run from storms.

Fly over the coast when a hurricane is predicted. Freeways will be flooded with cars running from the storm before the weather even gets bad.

Try looking a tornado in the eye and not wishing you were somewhere else.

We know what will happen if we stay through the storm. We’ve seen the images of breaking glass, downed tree limbs, and houses darkened for weeks on end.

People die when a storm comes to town.

Isaiah 50:7 tells us the storms of life can’t bring us down. When the evil one rails against our spirit, and we struggle with right and wrong, we have a champion.

Failure isn’t even in our vocabulary when we have God on our side.

“But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.”

We are the strong fist that destroys the storm when God is our shield and mighty sword. We step into the wind, and it is forced around us. Our face is as stone, and we fear no harm, for our Lord is our strength in our troubles.

We don’t run from the storm when Christ is with us. We leap in to rescue those who are dying inside.

Jesus is our left foot, and God is our right. The Holy Spirit is our fist of power, and nothing can come against the one who strides forth in his holy name.
