Finding Our Inner Strength

English Audio Version

Bethany Hamilton had every reason to give up.

A professional surfer, in 2003 a shark attack took her left arm. No one would have blamed her for retreating into despair and never touching the water again.

Instead, she returned to professional surfing and achieved a new level of success.

Giving up must never be an option. Everyone faces despair at some point. We all have conflicts we must work through. The question is whether we allow ourselves to be beat down or changed into something better.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 encourages us to remember where we find our strength.

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

God is our enduring power, our source of fire, and our ongoing determination. In him, we can find the strength to overcome adversity and fight through the low times in our lives.

In God is our brighter outlook and our successful future.

When we pay attention to God, the troubles we face seem to fade in comparison.
