The reality of life is that we’re human.
We can’t escape many of the pitfalls that come with everyday living. That’s why we carry insurance, practice preventative medicine, and have caution labels on the items we buy.
We don’t require a companion driver with a newly licensed teen for no reason. We want to forego the crash they’re about to have. We know we can’t keep them 100-percent safe, but we want to intervene if we can.
Psalm 71:20 says we have someone more skilled than us riding along to help us get to our destination safely.
“You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.”
We might have near misses, but God has a separate set of controls. He can take over for us when we want to throw up our hands in despair.
Our part is to be prepared to take our hands off the wheel. Jesus is our co-driver, and he’s prepared to take charge when the road carries us where we don’t wish to go.
We can trust in our Lord to guide us, no matter what troubles we face along the way.
