We see news flashes of houses washed away in times of storm.
Hurricanes, unexpected downpours, and even mudslides can wreak havoc on everything we’ve built.
In 2014 a 4,000-square-foot mansion overlooking Lake Whitney, Texas, was destroyed when the limestone cliff beneath it broke apart and slipped to the shore 70 feet below.
Where’s our firm foundation to be found, when even the rock we build upon begins to crumble?
There is one rock that will never give way. We read of it in Matthew 7:24:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Finances can dissipate with the fluctuations of the stock market. Real estate is no more stable than its shaky underpinnings. Even relationships are liable to carry us away in roiling currents of disillusionment and desperation.
We must look to Christ, for in him is our only safety. When we place our lives in his hands, we can rest assured we are wrapped in his security and love.
Our firm foundation is Jesus, for he is our solid rock.
