We want to reach out and touch the truth.
The door handle to our new house. Our grandbaby’s face. That new car we so desperately need.
When we’re blessed with things we can touch, it’s easy to have faith in Jesus.
What about when we lose our home, our grandkids don’t call, and our car breaks down? Where’s our faith then?
Matthew 21:21 gives us the words of Jesus:
“And Jesus answered them, Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea, it will happen.”
Faith isn’t something we can touch. It’s what we believe, even when we can’t touch it. That’s what makes it faith.
Are we really going to move a physical, rock and dirt mountain, even if we have exceeding faith? No. What Jesus says is that we’ll surmount our problems, if we trust in him. We’ll have a home again. Our family won’t be alienated forever. The money for the car repair will be there, if we trust in our Lord.
It’s called faith for a reason. We believe despite the odds. We leave our life in Jesus’ hands and quit trying to do it all on our own.
