The Hammer of God

In the world, we hear that promises are made to be broken. In essence, that gives us an out if we feel like reneging on our word.

“Oh, did I promise to serve at the missions banquet? I can’t make it. I’m so sorry.” And the serving line is one person short the entire evening.

We do the same in our work environment. When better pay comes along, we want out of our contract. We’re out the door, quicker than squeeze.

Even in our relationships. We promise until death do we part, but that only lasts until we decide to separate.

God takes his promises a little more seriously. Jeremiah 23:29 shows us the Lord’s words can be taken to the bank.

“Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”

God’s promises won’t be broken. Rather, they do the breaking. When we petition the Father, and he says yes, it’s the obstacles in our way that get crushed like they never were.

We can find our faith in God. What he says, that’s what he’ll do.
