Love can mean so many things.
To some, it’s a father’s arm during an emotional crisis. Others find love in a sunrise of unimaginable beauty. Still more find their emotions stirred by passions, and they think they’ve found true love.
The Word of God paints love with a different brush, for in Christ, we find a love that surpasses all others.
John 15:13 reveals the greatest love ever shown to man or woman:
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
Romans 8:28 tells us God’s love is directed toward us when we keep him in our thoughts and plans:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:31 shouts out that when we have the love of God on our side, there is no defeat that can bring us down:
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Romans 15:13 offers us hope rooted in the love of our heavenly Father:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Romans 8:38-39 binds us with the cords of God’s love, an eternal wrapping that can never be severed or cast aside:
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
1 Corinthians 13:12 whispers that there will be times we don’t understand where God is taking us, but though his love, we can know our journey is leading us home:
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”
Love is sometimes warm and fuzzy, and other times it can be hard to find. When it comes from Christ, it will flow like a river, and we’ll never be left behind.
When we’re painted with God’s brush, his love will cover us from head to tiniest toe.
