Our Full Assurance of Faith

Confidence.

It’s a full conviction that things will turn out a certain way.

An assurance goes even further. It’s a promise, a positive declaration that something will come to pass. It’s a vow, a pledge, an oath, a bond, a guarantee.

It’s a commitment that whatever was promised will be completed or brought to fruition by any means necessary.

We can trust an assurance to be as it’s stated, and our assurance of faith is clearly spelled out in the Word of God.

Ephesians 3:17-21 says there are no limits on what God can and will do for us. No limits at all. None.

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.”

1 John 3:22 tells us our only responsibility is to keep his commandments and do what pleases God. He is then bound to give us his full cooperation when we ask of him.

“And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.”

1 John 3:1-3 explains why some people don’t understand God’s plan and the function of prayer in his name.

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”

Hebrews 10:19-23 reiterates the faithfulness of God, for our Lord has promised us life everlasting, and he is unwavering in his intent to be faithful unto us forever.

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”

When we call out to God with a clear and pure heart, his will is to answer our prayer.
