A general needs a battle plan.
A quarterback needs a play.
A musician needs a song, with the notes inscribed on the page.
To be successful in life, we require certain things. Often, it’s a kind word. Sometimes it’s a clenched fist.
When we choose to walk with Christ in service to our God, we must be fully equipped, or we will fail in our task. When we place our trust in our heavenly Father, he will become our arsenal of success.
Zechariah 12:6 is about the children of Israel, but it also applies to the Christian today.
“On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.”
It’s time to jump for joy. We’ll receive wisdom and strength. We’ll triumph in spiritual battles to a degree that we’ve never known. We’ll be saved from the onslaught of sin. Our lives will be rebuilt, and we’ll inhabit the beautiful city on the hill.
We will stand tall, our sword in hand, triumphant against the evil one. Our battle cry will be the name of Christ, and there will be none who can defeat us. Jesus will be our battle plan, our play in the game, the notes inscribed on the page, waiting for us to play them with enthusiasm and conviction. Our words will ring with the sweetness of Jesus’ love, and our fists will pound the devil with the awesome authority of Christ.
In Christ’s name, our victory is assured, for the sword we wield is the power given us in his name.
