It’s time to take our “super” pill. To leave Krypton and travel to Earth. To put on our exoskeleton. To find the inner strength that we struggle for every day.
It’s time to realize we have a superpower already inside us, if we walk with Christ, our Lord.
2 Chronicles 32:7 gives us the message of Hezekiah:
“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him.”
Yeah, yeah, we say. Nice verse. But what does it mean? We still feel weak and ordinary inside. There’s no superpower flowing through our veins.
We need to look at what this verse is really telling us, to be reminded that God, our “super” pill, is already inside.
Super Pill Reminder No. 1:
“Be strong and courageous...” This isn’t a feeling. It’s a choice. Do we really think a soldier leaps into the fight without fear? A good soldier is strong and courageous because he or she chooses to show bravery and courage.
Super Pill Reminder No. 2:
“Be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria...” This might be better interpreted “...of the king of Assyria.” Superman never looked at the baddies and said they were too big for him. He knew the power of his clenched fist. Our clenched fist contains the power of the almighty God.
Super Pill Reminder No. 3:
“Nor for all the multitude that is with him...” Sometimes our defeat comes not in today’s battle, but in seeing tomorrow and the day after. It’s like looking in a mirror. The battles are never ending. It’s only mirrors, though, and mirrors can be smashed with the punch of a strong fist.
Super Pill Reminder No. 4:
“For there be more with us than with him.” God is our superpower. When he lives inside us, there is no conqueror that can overpower us. God is our Humvee, our Abrams tank, our DARPA exoskeleton. He is the mighty power that will crush our enemy.
We don’t need a super pill. We have God. We become Superman when we let Christ live inside.
