We are human.
Every one of us, flesh and blood, unable to get past our humble birth.
We are more, also, soul and spirit, the receptacle of a greater power than we can ever be.
What power will we allow to flood us, that of Christ, or one of a lower nature? It’s by spiritual discernment that we avoid the evil one and allow the Son to infill us with his majesty.
1 John 4:1 reveals the truth of our situation, that some who profess a better way have ulterior motives. We must be on our guard.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
Matthew 24:24 cautions us that no human is strong enough to avoid the deception. Only in Christ can we be secure.
“For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.”
Colossians 3:9-10 warns us to be transparent in our Christian walk. Trust is vital in building strong bonds with fellow believers.
“Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”
Matthew 24:44 promises our redemption, even if we can’t see the hour approaching.
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
2 Timothy 2:15 says our only judge is God, for in him we will find our eternal reward or lasting penalty.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
Being human is natural. Everyone gets to taste the experience. Our choices determine the path we travel though our life.
We may be only human, but when we accept Christ, we become so much more in him.
