One of the best things about visiting the seashore is wading in the surf to locate as many types of shells as we can. Each is an example of a unique sea creature created by God to live out its life in the cycle of the sea, born, procreating, and coming to its natural end in the process of life.
Then, when the cycle has come full circle, we can collect the shells left behind, a beautiful reminder of God’s handiwork on this earth.
That is our God, scattering the jewels of his creation along the SEASHORE of life, left there to enrich our journey into eternity.
Let’s look at some examples of our SEASHORE God:
S – His SPIRIT is the very force of creation.
Genesis 1:2 tells us the SPIRIT of God moved across the face of the waters, and in his presence, change happened.
Whenever we see beauty around us, we can be assured that God has passed our way.
E – The green things upon the EARTH are manifestations of God’s blessings.
1 Kings 17:14 makes it clear that it is by the hand of God that rain falls on the EARTH and we have good crops. This verse also says that God can withhold those rains.
When we are grateful for God’s blessings, then he is motivated to bless us even more.
A – He is filled with ANSWERS to all our questions.
Psalm 99:8 describes God’s response to the questions asked of him by Moses and Aaron. This verse says God ANSWERED them with forgiveness.
When we come upon the forgiveness of the Lord, it is the finest bauble we will find on the shore.
S – When we offer up a SHOUT in his name, the very stones around us become different.
Joshua 6:5 falls in the middle of the siege of Jericho. This verse proclaims that when the children of Israel give a great SHOUT, God will change their circumstances.
When we see God’s creation in action, what can be more exciting than that?
H – His HERITAGE covers all the land for us to pick and choose from.
Jeremiah 3:19 speaks of God’s desire to give his children a HERITAGE that is as vast as the land is wide. All he wishes is for us to call him Father and not turn away from him.
We will find God’s treasures when we keep our faces pointed his direction. He will unblind our eyes, and we will discover what was there all along.
O – He is the OFFSPRING that brings fulfillment to all prophecy.
Revelations 22:16 describes Jesus as the root and the OFFSPRING of David. He is that from which all creation sprang, and he is the one returned to save the world from sin.
There is no jewel on the beach that can be found and then found again except one, the Christ that died upon the cross.
R – He is the RESTORER that brings new life.
Ruth 4:15 speaks of an archetype of the great Redeemer, for the Lord did not forget his daughter, and she gleaned the jewels of new life from God’s eternal beach.
Even when we feel life has come to an end, God has us a new beginning in store, RESTORING us to our previous glory.
E – He EXHALTS those who stand upright before him.
Proverbs 11:11 assures us that blessings will be found by those who stand tall before God, for he loves a goodly person. He EXHALTS us before all men.
In the same manner, those who refuse to see his blessings scattered before them will fall, taking all those around them down, also.
The seashore is as wide as the world, and when we limit God, we limit his blessings unto us. His gifts are already strewn in front of us, beautiful shells on the beach of life, ready for us to enjoy. All we have to do is reach down and pick them up.
Let’s keep our eyes open, for God has our blessings already spread before us.
