Spring can be a beautiful time of year, but it is also a time of fear in many parts of the United States. Not only does more than the usual amount of rain fall, but winter’s snowmelt fills rivers to overflowing.
We can get flood insurance. In fact, when flood season arrives flood insurance offers begin to appear. High water coming! Sign up today! FEMA wants us to sign up; to be prepared; to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program.
The cost is very reasonable, and the benefits more than outweigh what we put into it.
The reality is, only 18 percent of homeowners purchase flood insurance.
Jerusalem needed flood insurance. In Matthew 23:37-39, Jesus stands in the temple crying out, “High water is coming! Sign up for your flood insurance today!”
Yet, the people do not listen. The house of God is left without insurance. God no longer dwells there, because the people have ignored his call.
High water is rising, and they will be unprepared for the damage that comes their way.
Jesus says that Jerusalem will no longer see him in the house of God until they say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
When will that time be? At the second coming, when Jesus returns for his own.
Our churches are in the same place today that Jerusalem was in two thousand years ago. Jesus cries unto us, “High water is coming!”
As Christians, we also need an insurance policy. What does the Bible tell us it is? Our faith in him. Without that faith, when the floods come, we will be washed away, and there will be no salvation for our souls.
We have to be prepared ahead of time, so that when we face trials, we have extra resources to get us through.
