A Single Smile

English Audio Version

My dream? You wonder how you would answer …

An artist … but I don’t know how to paint.

An actor … but I can’t act, either. I was never good in theater class.

I know, a chef … oh, right. I remember how badly I burned dinner.

My dream? I don’t guess I have one, at least not one that’s better than the life I have now. It may not be great, but I can’t do anything else.

Now let’s turn that around. Flip it on its head. Go topsy-turvy, scramble the egg, toss the boomerang … get our head screwed on right.

This is a dream you can have: to make the world a better place.

I don’t mean bringing about world peace or solving global warming. I mean making the world a better place in one place. Someone’s place.

Proverbs 16:24 is simple but smack full of life-changing goodness:

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”

Buckle up, because here’s what I want you to see in this: This isn’t about you. This is about the other guy.

Make this your dream: Make their world a better place. A kind word, a smile, help when you don’t have to.

Thank the cashier. Look him in the eye and sincerely mean it.

Smile at the waitress. Call her by name and notice her.

Bring in your neighbor’s trash bin. Just. Because. You. Can.

There. World changed for one person. It’s a start, and you’re already ahead of the 6 billion people who didn’t even try.

God loves you. When you share his love, other people will share his love also.
