You Are Under Construction

English Audio Version

You ever start something full of motivation—new workout plan, Bible reading streak, organizing your closet—and then… fizzle out halfway through?

We’ve all got half-done projects and abandoned goals that make us wonder if we’ll ever finish what we start. Thankfully, when it comes to our spiritual growth, God doesn’t leave things half-built.

Philippians 1:6 (NIV) promises:

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

That means whatever God has started in you—healing, faith, character, courage—He’s got the blueprints, the patience, and the power to finish it. You’re a work in progress, not a spiritual flop. Progress may feel slow, but construction zones are always messy before they’re finished masterpieces.

Even the Apostle Paul, who wrote those words from prison, wasn’t talking theory—he was living it. His life didn’t look “put together,” but he trusted that God was still writing the next chapter. Author and pastor Max Lucado once said, “God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way.”

That’s divine renovation.

And if you ever doubt that growth is possible, research backs it up. Psychologists at Stanford have shown that people who believe they can change are far more likely to actually do it. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Scripture beat science to the punch—faith and confidence in God’s ongoing work make transformation possible.

So don’t panic if you’re not “there” yet. None of us are. The Holy Spirit isn’t done sanding the rough edges, repainting the heart, and strengthening the foundation of your faith.

You’re not falling apart—you’re just under divine construction, and the Builder never quits mid-project.
