God’s Quick-Fix Plan

English Audio Version

Let’s open with the obvious. He doesn’t have one.

There is no quick-fix option for your life.

Despite what you see on social media, you can’t paint out your problems, eat a special cookie and dissolve the weight, or resolve your marriage woes with a vase of flowers.

A couple bought an influencer’s home and were appalled to see that all their “social media” improvements rarely extended beyond what fit in the picture. Missing trim work. Mismatched wallpaper. Partially refinished wood flooring.

Rather, we must apply legwork, diligence, and many backbreaking hours of honest investment to get things done.

Proverbs 21:5 gives us this sage advice:

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”

That paint can be beautiful, but it’s the prep work that makes it last. Take shortcuts, and it will look good for about a week. Patching, sanding, and a good primer make all the difference. Not all paint wants to adhere to all surfaces. Not all surfaces like to be painted.

Calories in, calories out. Better health is a long-term game best achieved in small increments. Cut out half the cookie. Lift the small weight. Walk around the block. Then up your game when your body is ready.

The flowers are a start, but there’s more to a good relationship. Get counseling, go on a couple’s retreat, make a point to say good morning and good night. Treat the other person with respect until you earn their respect. It takes a long time, but you can do it.

God has no quick-fix plan for your life. Yes, forgiveness is yours instantly. The rest? If you really want to move forward, you’ll find a way. If not, any excuse will stop you in your tracks.

Buckle up, buttercup, it’s time to put your feet to the floor and make your life your own. God will be your strength along the way.
