A Steamroller Life for Christ

What can stand its ground against a steamroller?

Not much, that’s what. Several years ago, TV host David Letterman performed a stunt on the streets of New York where he placed numerous items in front of a massive steamroller to see what was left at the end.

Tube of toothpaste, splattered everywhere. A pair of reading glasses, a shattered mess. A carton of canned beverages, no more than wet disks of flattened metal.

Food, a bowling trophy, even raspberry gelatin, no longer recognizable as what it once was.

That’s how God wants us to live when it comes to facing the troubles of this world.

Joshua 1:9 says:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

At work? Bam, smash, bad things flattened to dust.

In your home? Disagreements and friction splattered into fragments too inconsequential to notice.

At church? At school? While driving your car? You got it! We are steamrollers for Jesus when it comes to sin and temptation. The disruption the devil wants to spread in your life is crushed to a shattered mess, and you can stand with your back straight, powerful in Christ, and a testament of God’s faithfulness to everyone who sees you.

Do not be frightened of what’s around you. God is with you everywhere you go.
