So, someone hurt your feelings. How wicked of them!
Or you receive a ticket for being double parked, and you growl at the wicked ordinance officer. It was only for five minutes, you think.
Then your little brother, wicked soul that he is, shares your private journal, and you want to die of embarrassment.
What really makes up a wicked man? Do these things count, or is there something more?
Here’s what the Bible has to say.
Proverbs 24:28 tells us:
“Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.”
If you intentionally lie to create problems for someone else, you are showing the signs of a wicked man.
Psalms 58:3 says:
“The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies.”
True wickedness is hard to cast off. The easy lies are an addiction, even when others get hurt.
James 3:14 gives us insight:
“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.”
We can fight against our evil nature. We can make a choice to kick wickedness out the door.
Proverbs 12:19 offers us a path to redemption:
“Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”
Honesty is our ticket to redemption. It’s how we cast our wickedness aside.
This is about transparency. Be as you say you are. Live your life on your sleeve. Follow through. Show consideration. Remember that kindness counts.
When you choose Christ, the wicked man is banished and can be found no more.
