We know the story of Caleb from the Old Testament.
Along with Joshua and ten other men, Caleb ventured into the Promised Land and spied out the enemies the children of Israel needed to kick out before reclaiming their heritage.
Caleb’s life is rousing.
Here are 6 Examples Caleb Set for Us to inspire us to do more and go further for the Lord.
Example No. 1:
Caleb didn’t hesitate to claim the promise of God.
Numbers 13:30 tells us:
“But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, ‘Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.’ ”
Example No. 2:
Caleb followed God unquestioningly and realized God’s full promise.
Numbers 14:24 says:
“But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went …”
Example No. 3:
Caleb sidestepped the punishment of God because of his obedience.
Numbers 32:12 reveals Caleb’s reward:
“None [entered the Promised Land] except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the Lord.”
Example No. 4:
Caleb actively discarded that which impeded his link with God.
Joshua 15:13-14 shows Caleb’s conviction:
“And Caleb drove out from [Hebron] the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.”
Example No. 5:
Caleb encouraged those who struggled with faith in God’s promise.
Numbers 14:7-9 is the encourager at work:
“The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. … Do not rebel against the Lord … [or] fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us.”
Example No. 6:
Caleb inspired his nephew (and son-in-law) to become the first judge in the book of Judges.
Judges 3:9 tells the tale:
“… The Lord raised up a deliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.”
Let’s follow in Caleb’s footsteps. Let’s experience a life on fire for God.
